Exactly two years after they last visited Pukekohe the Black Sticks Women will play three tests against their Indian equivalents at Rosa Birch Park in May.
The last time they stopped by they were building up to the Rio Olympics and they took on a CMHA invitation team as part of their warm up.
But this time it’s real.
The Black Sticks will play the first three rubbers of a FIH sanctioned five test series against India, the first game is on Sunday May 14th.
The Mark Hager coached team is currently 5th in the world rankings and was one place off the podium at the Rio Olympics.
India and NZ didn’t meet at the 2016 Olympics because India was on the other side of the draw and they didn’t get through to the knock out stage.
CMHA President, Peter Van Breugel, is delighted that Hockey NZ came knocking.
“It’s a big tick for our association”, he said. “HNZ has endorsed our organisation and facilities and as a bonus we can bring world class women’s sport to Pukekohe”.
